Not theirs to save the day, but where they stood falling to dye the earth with brave mens blood for Englands sake and duty. Be their names sacred among us neither praise nore blame be add to their epithaph, but let it be simple as that which marks thermopylae, tell it in England thoes that pass us bye, that here faithfull to their charge her soldiers lye.

@burnleyfan11965 Jump on to Google Earth sometime and switch on “Street View”. You can “walk” into the town of Serre past Serre Road #1, and # 2 Commonwealth War Cemeteries. As you get closer you can walk up a short driveway a bit where you can just see the top of the Cross in Serre #3 Cemetery where the British lines were, and the Accrinton Pals went over the top.

If my Grandfather had not survived fighting as an irish man in the british army I would not be alive today having grown up in Germany. …….it still makes me really sad this song…..for every life which was wasted…..

God bless the fallen ones. These kids just trying to make a difference and do the right thing. They are bleeding, screaming and crying in pain, then they die. These are fucking kids who should be in college drinking, playing sports, getting laid and getting into trouble. It really does break my heart, like they say- War, what is it good for?absolutly nothing!!

  7. AngryCritter9 Says:

@Figrollsarefab We wouldn’t have this argument if you just could accept that my opinion isn’t the same as yours

  8. Figrollsarefab Says:

@AngryCritter9 listen we wouldnt even be havin this stupid argument if you hadnt have come out with something so disrespectful by sayin a silly american band tryin to sound “nice” do a better version of such a meaningful song that the fureys pour their hearts out over real emotion in his voice…and you call it jumpy

  9. AngryCritter9 Says:

@Figrollsarefab What? I have never listen to them. I just wanted to hear The Green Fields Of France by Dropkick Murphys. I clicked in here and heard that it didnt was Dropkick Murphys. And u r sooo mature by swearing 3 times in every sentence

  10. Figrollsarefab Says:

  11. AngryCritter9 Says:

@toombeola Just because of my opinion? Fuking cocksucker

  12. AngryCritter9 Says:

@Figrollsarefab Wtf man, y do u get so fuking pissed off? I think Dropkick Murphys did the song better. Not everyone think this is better. I think the fureys or what they are called do it, how should I say it, jumpy. Dropkick Murphys version is smooth and goes like a soft line. Fureys is just… weird. So dont get pissed of just because I think so. I didnt say everyone think so

  13. toombeola Says:

Angrycritter should be dropkicked the fuck outta here

  14. Figrollsarefab Says:

@TheGapminder they where jelous of one another, the french of the german unity, the britts fo the german empire, the germans of the britt empire and the russians of us all. it was a war which could never be stoped, but praise kaiser willhelm for trying his utmost to prevent it. but he was not as gifted as bismarck. shame really.

may god be with the fallen and give em peace in death, for the never knew it in life.

  19. TheGapminder Says:

I’m German and I grew up about 200km away from Verdun. 2km away from the French border. And I’ve visited Verdun a couple of times. Together with friends from the Alsace and Champagne Region in France. One time there was an Aussie friend with us whom I firstly met in Turkey. Guess where.
WTF happened in the minds of the rulers in Europe by that time?

  20. AngryCritter9 Says:

Dropkick Murphys did this song better imo

  21. this song tells of the futility of war, wasted young life and the fact that we never learn from it. The soldiers of both world wars need not have died but for crooked lying politicians, much the same as today.

  22. To me its the best anti war song ever

  23. Great war Song of remembering all the men and women of the war past

  24. violentsilence4u Says:

    what does that mean??????????

  25. catslaughing Says:

    @waiotahi52 now thats a good question !!!
